BRITON FERRY LLANSAWEL AFC SECURE GRANT TO EXPAND - Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC

Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC is proud to announce they have secured funding from Welsh Ground Improvements to build a brand new 175 capacity stand at the Old Road. The stand will be located centrally on the rugby club side of the pitch. This latest addition is part of the on-going development at the Old Road in accordance with the Football Association of Wales Tier 2 Licensing.

The clubs Chairman, Mike Walsh welcomed the news and emphasised this is part of a long term plan to transform the Old Road ground. “On behalf of everyone at Briton Ferry Llansawel we would like express our gratitude and thanks to Welsh Ground Improvements committee and the FAW. This will be a fantastic addition to the Old Road ground infrastructure. We have been planning this for a few years and to finally secure funding is fantastic for the club and our supporters. It is also the final hurdle to ensure the ground meets with the new FAW Tier 2 Licensing Regulations that is needed in order to host Welsh League Division One football in our community".

The work on the new stand is scheduled to begin in June and will be ready for the beginning of the 2016/2017 season.  Stuart Williams, Licensing Officer who managed the project application saidAfter 3 years of failed applications and months of hard work behind the scenes we are delighted to be able to further improve the Old Road, I would personally like to thank the Welsh Ground Improvements committee, our club committee and the FAW for making it all possible. It’s going to be an exciting summer for everyone involved with the club!”
