Briton Ferry Llansawel hosted Caerphilly Castle on Sunday at Old Road in the first of two quarter final cup games against Caerphilly. BFL produced a great display of passing football and ran out comfortable winners.

From the start the visitors struggled to cope with the quick passing and movement of the reds and the home team deservedly took the lead in the 11th minute when the impressive Aimee Heath attacked down the left hitting the by-line before pulling the ball back for Renee Day to finish from the penalty spot to make it 1-0. Two minutes later Day grabbed her second following a great passing move involving several players before Lowri Ridings on her return to the club provided the final ball for Day to score. Within three minutes it was 3-0 following another good passing move involving Day and Megan Kearle with Heath finishing across the keeper. The reds continued to dominate but to give credit to Caerphilly they continued to battle and they keeper pulled off a number of fine saves to keep the score down. With 2 minutes remaining of the first half BFL did make it 4-0 with a good strike from the edge of the box from Lucy Powell.
