Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies travelled to face Penybont on Sunday in a game which was played in torrential rain throughout but went ahead on the 3G pitch at Penybont’s Kymco Stadium.
The reds struggled to settle early on and it was the hosts that took the lead with an attack down the left and great shot which flew over Ferry keeper Jess Garlick into the far top corner giving her no chance.
However, gradually the Ferry girls started to settle and play some football, they levelled in the 19th with a great ball from Renee Day into Lucy Powell who produced a great first touch to get the ball under control before slotting her shot past the oncoming keeper.
Then in the 27th minute the reds took the lead with Day again the provider with a ball into Becca Rees who finished well for 2-1.
Penybont were immediately level a minute later though with a long ball to their striker who chipped her finish over Garlick for 2-2.

With the heavy rain continuing in the second half the reds struggled to get the ball down and play their normal passing style of football and the home team seemed to fancy their chances of a win despite losing heavily to the reds in a league game 2 weeks ago.
However, despite Penybont winning most of the 50-50 balls around the field it was BFL who created the 2 best chances in the second half with Rees going around the keeper but shooting into the side netting from a tight angle in the 47th minute and Aimee Heath firing just over the bar in the 75th minute.
In the 79th minute BFL did edge themselves in front again following a great run down the right from Megan Kearle who crossed for Day to finish for a 3-2 lead.
By this time the Ferry had lost both central defenders Sophie Cardy & Catrin Davies to injury but looked as though they were going to hold on for victory.
Unfortunately for the Reds though in the 96th minute of the game they failed to clear a corner properly and a Penybont player reacted first to stab home and give a final score of 3-3.
This was the final game of the group stages of the South Wales Alun Evans Cup, which sees BFL top the group and qualify for the quarter finals with Penybont finishing second in the group and also qualifying.
