Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies put in another good performance on Sunday afternoon and came away with a point following a 1-1 draw against a strong Aberystwyth team.

On the balance of possession and chances though manager Ross Norgrove will fel they were unlucky not to claim all 3 points.

The reds started strongly and moved the ball well and the first real chance of the game came in the 15th minute when a free kick from Renee Day was scrambled away by the Aber defence just as Sophie Cardy was set to pounce.

Aberystwyth did create some chances but the Ferry defence comfortably dealt with everything that was thrown at them with 16 year old Catrin Davies again impressing at centre half.

In the 36th minute the reds did take the lead with a very well worked goal with Megan Kearle playing the ball into Becca Rees before continuing her run and receiving the ball back from Rees with a great flick before curling the ball past the Aber keeper.

The Ferry girls now had their heads up and threw everything at the visitors in the remainder of the half with Day seeing a great effort saved on 38 minutes and Becca Rees firing just wide on 41 minutes following another great move.

The Aber team were hanging on at this stage but remained solid at the back to keep the arrears to just one goal.

BFL again started the second half well and went close to doubling the lead in the 56th minute but the Aber defence put their bodies on the line and made a great double block the first from Cardy and then from Day.

In the 63rd minute the visitors drew level following a good effort from distance that looped over Jess Garlick in the Ferry goals into the roof of the net.

That spurred the Aber team on and they pushed on looking to take all 3 points but despite a number of good moves were unable to get a second.

In the final 15 minutes the reds lifted their game again and went close on a few occasions with Davies firing just wide from another Day corner and Lucy Powell shooting just wide from the edge of the area in the dying minutes.
